Dartmoor is the largest area of wild country and moorland in the south of England ,and where granite is the predominant rock, creating intriguing formations, such as Tors. Dartmoor has been inhabited for thousands of years. The remains of many generations of ancient civilizations are scattered all around, in the form of weathered stone circles&rows, burial sites, hut circles, clapper bridges, stone crosses and impressive standing stones. The evidence is set amidst a stunning landscape. Magnificent Tors rise up from the high moorland, and Dartmoor ponies run wild, ancient woods, streams and flora are all here to be explored, as well as all those chilling ghostie stories!
Dartmoor covers nearly 400sq miles of Devon so it is quite difficult to miss !! And it is well worth your visit.
